Me in a nutshell

I´m an opinionated and somewhat amusing lesbian living in Wolverhampton, UK. I´m slightly obsessive about sexual health, which I suppose is what you want in someone working in a contraception clinic, and also about science and stuff, because it is wonderful. I long for a tricorder.

I´m more than a bit geeky and also like my home comforts (which means I like drinking red wine and watching telly more than clubbing).

I am geeky, thinky, and stuck in the 80s

Currently getting far too acquainted with fair isle knitting, which has involved learning to knit with one colour in each hand, in a heinous combination of English and continental knitting. It has led to much frustration, two aborted pairs of socks, and one half completed set of fingerless gloves. With skulls on.

Personal freedom is what matters to this person. Laws and rules are a nuisance and they’re glad that things have changed for the better. Living in the present is their aim; cherishing the opportunity to express themselves without fear or doubt. They are open to new experiences and see sex as a powerful means of self-expression. They revel in the advantages of a free and liberal society and tend to feel that the past should remain a forgotten country.

Sensitive

Because they’re a sensitive soul inside, they can sometimes present a seemingly impervious outer-shell to protect themselves from psychological slings and arrows. They may be tempted to ‘fire the first shot’ in order to deflect any criticism even before it happens. Being sensitive – especially to the feelings of others - is a very attractive quality and displaying their soft side may bring out feelings of protectiveness in others.

They’re equally happy in their own company as they are in the company of true friends. Rather than raucous nights on the town, they enjoy pursuing hobbies and like nothing more than sharing interests and intimate conversation with the special people in their life. They avoid large groups and gatherings where they’d be expected to be the centre of attention but enjoy occasional parties – especially when they know every face in the room. They don’t find it easy to approach a stranger but will come across as polite if introduced by a friend.

Spontaneous

Although on the surface this person seems to ride life as though it’s the crest of a wave – they have called the coast guard for information about tides beforehand! They are excited by new challenges and are happy to ‘go with the flow’ and try new experiences. They’ll be up for a spontaneous after-work drink with friends but not if it means they miss the last bus home. They’re independent and take balanced risks. They will be happy to date someone who is out of their comfort zone for the experience but when their instincts about a person or situation kick in, they’ll stop and listen. Although they’re ready for fun, they certainly wouldn’t call themselves reckless.

Optimistic

On the whole, they have a sunny outlook on life. If set-backs happen they may spend a moment licking their wounds but will quickly dust themselves down and get on track. Others find their attitude quite inspirational and they may find friends seek their advice. They take a balanced view on most things and will always err on the side of hope and positivity rather than brood on the negative. They’re open to new opportunities and will actively seek solutions to problems and explore new avenues rather than let life pass them by.

Tentative

They won’t be walked over by anyone but won’t cause any scenes either. They may appear indecisive but that could be because they prefer others to take control. Being fairly easy-going, their laid-back approach may come accross as lazy or uncaring. Being put on the spot makes them feel uncomfortable so if they need to make a decision they like to take their time and weigh things up. Even then, they may want to leave their suggestions open to debate – a trait others may see as fair-minded, team-spirited and inclusive.
