Helen and Vicky met through Tom Dick and Sally and are now busy planning their wedding. Their story is an inspiration to all and shows that love is worth waiting for and can sometimes be just around the corner!

They had both used dating sites before, trying both gay and straight sites, but neither of them had any success finding the right person.

After sending flirts to a few people on Tom Dick and Sally but without much luck, Vicky was delighted to see a response from Helen, who not only sounded ideal but lived just up the road!

Helen and Vicky very kindly agreed to be interviewed. Here's the rest of their story.

How long did it take from first message to first date? Helen: From Vicky sending me the first message we chatted through email for about 2 weeks, then we spoke on the phone followed by a week of texting till we finally met. We found that we had so many similarities between us, same music taste, same attitude towards life, both of us just gelled with each other. I don't know how else to put it.

What did you do on your first date?
Helen: The first time we met we had arranged to meet for coffee in the city centre, unfortunately I had a important meeting with the headmaster of my son's school on the morning that we were supposed to meet and at the time Vicky worked very strange shifts with her job, so I broke all the rules (which I would never recommend to anyone but I live in a maisonette with a security door so if I don't want to answer the door because I don't like the look of someone I don't have to) and she came over to mine for a coffee.

When did you realise that she was The One?
Helen: Well I realised that she was the right one for me about an hour after meeting her. She was so open, genuine, funny and just what I wanted. Vicky: I knew within the first few seconds!

What's the best thing about your partner?
Helen: I would have to say her openess with me. We have no secrets which has never happened to me in a relationship before.
Vicky: Her sense of humour!

What's the most romantic thing you've done for each other?
Helen: Vicky ordered a dozen red roses for me and I had no idea they were coming.
Both: We've had matching tattoos of a dragon asleep on our shoulder so we are with each other for ever.

What would you tell others who are still looking for their perfect partner?
Helen: The best tip I can give anyone is never give up hope as the right person is out there, it just might not be the right time for you to meet just yet.
I just can't believe that I have found my soulmate and she only lived up the road. Our paths should have crossed several times but for some reason we never did and I believe that fate was keeping us apart till the time was right. Now I have found her and we are getting married on Valentine's day.
